Cox PhotoLinda Hamilton Cox, age 57, of Clarion, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA after a sudden illness, surrounded by her family and friends; she was treasured until the end.

Born on July 7, 1956, in Pittsburgh, PA, she lived most of her adult life in the Clarion area.

Linda was the daughter of John H. Cox of Slippery Rock and Catherine McCall of Georgia, who survive her.

She is also survived by a son, Todd J. Nicewonger, wife Tricia and grandsons Rowan and Elijah of Kill Devil Hills, NC; a daughter, Rachel Nuhfer of Brookville; a brother, John Cox and wife Cherl of Fisher; a sister Catherine Byrd of Georgia; and a former husband, Thomas Nuhfer of Brookville.

Linda had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She had been a deacon and also taught Sunday School in the past. She was active in the Brownies and Girl Scouts at one time. Linda was a member of the Clarion Wrestling and Football Boosters Club and also active in the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was a long-time Abate member.

Linda worked as a bartender off and on through her life. Her life-long ambition was to own a tailor’s shop – The Village Tailor – known for her seamstress and custom sewing abilities.

She attended Venango Christian High School, graduating in 1974. She also went to Clarion University and Clarion Vo-Tech.

Linda will be remembered by all as a lover of life, dancer in the rain, keeper of the cats, hat aficionado, and gardener extraordinaire.

She was always ready with tea, coffee, cookies, and an open heart to make life better for others. She will be tremendously missed by all who knew her.

There will be no formal services at this time. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street, in Clarion. Friends and family may send online condolences, sympathy cards, gifts, and obtain additional information by visiting the funeral home website at www.goblefh.net.
