Jesse F. Vasbinder

Jesse F. Vasbinder, 85, of Rimersburg, died at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, of a sudden illness at his residence.

Born July 27, 1930, in Phillipston, he was the son of Mildred Butler Vasbinder and Charles Arthur Vasbinder.

He attended East Brady High School.

Mr. Vasbinder was a veteran in the U.S. Army serving as a corporal. He served two years in the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of VFW Post 7132 of Rimersburg.

Mr. Vasbinder was a welder for Pullman Standard in Butler before he retired. He enjoyed playing softball with his brothers and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan.

Survivors include the mother of his children, Elsie “June” Ritts of Sligo; three sons, Fred Vasbinder and his wife, Kim, of Athens, Texas, Joe Vasbinder and Kevin Vasbinder; two daughters, Lisa Francher and her husband, Keith, and Sheila Vasbinder and her companion, Tim Engro, of Rimersburg; 10 grandchildren, Fred Vasbinder and his wife, Amy, of Sligo, Jessica Vasbinder, Heather and Allen Johnson, Allison and Tracy Barger, Miranda Stewart and her husband, Cody, Jacob Mortimer, Gage Minnick, Janessa Vasbinder, Jesse Minnick and Brett Fancher; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Watson of Elkhart, Ind.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard “Fluke,” Robert “Lee” and Henry “Hank;” and a sister, Caroline Smail.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Varner Funeral Home in Rimersburg.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Deeter, pastor of the Wildcat Wesleyan Methodist Church near Rimersburg, officiating.

Full military honors will be accorded by the ceremonial squad of the Rimersburg American Legion and VFW.

The family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
