Clarion Man Earns Eagle Scout Award

Tuesday, April 19, 2016 @ 12:04 AM

Posted by Joanne Bauer

IMG_4308CLARION, Pa. – Kyle Aaron Bettwy celebrated achieving the rank of Eagle Scout on Sunday, April 10, at the First United Methodist Church in Clarion.

Approximately 65 people attended a ceremony for Kyle who was given the most prestigious award in scouting. He was presented citations from PA State Representative Donna Oberlander and PA State Senator Scott. E. Hutchinson. French Creek Council Commissioner Bonnie Hubauer also presented Kyle with a citation on behalf of the Boy Scouts. He also received citations from President and Michelle Obama, Governor Tom Wolf, and NASA.

Kyle earned the coveted award on December 28, 2015, after successfully completing his final Board of Review and Eagle Scout project. Kyle organized and completed a renovation and expansion of the outdoor classroom area at Clarion Area High School. Generous donations from Hager Paving, Clarion Builders Supply, and Sherwin Williams made the expansion possible.

Only four percent of those entering scouting reach this level and without their support and encouragement earning his badge would not have been possible.

For their donations, assistance, and mentorship, Kyle would like to thank: Leroy Bettwy, Don Hager, Joe Stahlman, Don Cunningham, Scout Master “Woody” Whitling, his Assistant Scout Masters, committee members, the many Scouts in Troop 51, and his family.
