UPDATE: Hot Wax Spills Over Roadway Following Route 899 Tanker Rollover Crash

BARNETT TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – A tanker rollover shut down a portion of Route 899 in Barnett Township, Forest County for several hours Monday.

Marienville-based State Police say the accident happened around 4:05 p.m. on Route 899 near its intersection with Maple Street.

Steven L. Dehner, 61, of Bradford, lost control of his tanker truck while attempting to negotiate a turn on State 899.

Police say the vehicle overturned onto its side and continued sliding south before colliding with a guide rail.

Dehner was extricated from the truck by EMS and fire department personnel, according to police.

He was transported to Penn Highlands Brookville for treatment of unknown injuries.

The tanker truck was transporting hot wax which leaked onto the roadway as a result of the crash.

Hazmat crews responded to the scene to clean up the spill.

State Route 899 was closed between Marienville and State Route 36 for several hours.

Sigel VFD, Marienville VFD, Farmington Twp. VFC, Clarion Hospital Ambulance, Brookville Fire Company Special Emergency Response Team, Leadbetter Towing, Keystone EnviroVac Services, Clarion and Forest Co. Emergency Services, and the PA DEP assisted at the scene.
