Cook Forest Folk Music Contest Set for May 14 at Sawmill Center for the Arts

COOKSBURG, Pa. (EYT) — The Sawmill Center for the Arts is hosting the Cook Forest Folk Music Contest on Saturday, May 14.

The event is from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

There will be three divisions for fiddle, guitar, banjo and mandolin. $700.00 in prize money will be awarded.

Registration for the contest is at noon with the contest from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. followed by a Hoe-Down Square Dance from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with caller Kenneth Burkett.

Vendors will be available to sell their wares and artists will display and demonstrate their work.

Admission is free, and the event will be held rain or shine.

Also, donations will be accepted to help fight Hemlock Woolly Adelgid, an insect infestation that threatens the “old growth” hemlocks of Cook Forest State Park.

The Sawmill Center for the Arts is located at 140-170 Theatre Lane, Cooksburg, Pa.
