Clarion County Conservationist Bernie Spozio Retires

CLARION CO., Pa. – Bernie Spozio, the Clarion County Conservation District’s Erosion and Sediment Technician, retired Friday, May 20, after seven years of service.

Spozio was involved in resource conservation in Clarion County for over 40 years.

He helped establish the Alliance for Wetlands and Wildlife, a watershed organization that developed the Beaver Creek Nature Area near Knox. The recreational area covers over 900 acres of mixed habitat that provides the local community with several fishing ponds and bird watching sites.

Spozio spent most of his career working at the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, which he retired from as a Supervisory District Conservationist in 2008.

During his retirement, Spozio plans to remain involved in local watershed organizations and spend time hunting and fishing.

A retirement celebration was held for Spozio during the district’s May meeting, in which Spozio was presented with a plaque recognizing his service and commitment to conservation in Clarion County.
