CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – Substance abuse doctor Thomas Radecki was sentenced this afternoon in the Clarion County Court of Common Pleas.

Thomas Edward Radecki, 70, of Clarion, was sentenced by Clarion County President Judge James Arner to 11 years and 1 month to 22 years and 2 months in state prison.

Radecki was found guilty on April 26 on the following felony charges related to inappropriate sexual relationships with female patients and the distribution of controlled substances:

  • Administer Etc Of Controlled Substance By Practitioner, Felony (9 counts)
  • Conspiracy — Administer Etc Of Controlled Substance By Practitioner, Felony
  • Dealing In Proceeds — Unlawful Activity/Intent To Promote, Felony 1
  • Corrupt Organizations — Employee, Felony 1

“The individual costs were staggering,” State Attorney Mark Serge said. “He used his practice to exploit nine vulnerable patients. When one of his patients came to him, she had no drug problems, she just needed some psychiatric help and she left an addict because he prescribed suboxone for a shoulder problem she had, but that was already being dealt with by another physician.”

Radecki faced more than two dozen felony counts of having inappropriate sexual relationships with female patients and distributing controlled substances.

In 2011 and 2012, Radecki was investigated by a number of law enforcement agencies in reference to his prescribing, dispensing, and billing practices while operating four offices, including Suboxone maintenance programs in Clarion, Seneca, DuBois, and Kane. Suboxone is used to treat addiction to Heroin and other Opiates such as Morphine.
