Police: Man Confesses to Burglary in Scrubgrass Township, Jailed on $85k Bail

SCRUBGRASS TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Parker man has been arrested in connection with a burglary that occurred on Lisbon Road, in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County.

According to court documents, Franklin-based State Police filed criminal charges against 63-year-old Joseph Allen Everetts, of Parker.

According to a criminal complaint, around 12:02 p.m. on June 11, a known woman contacted PSP Franklin to report a burglary. The woman discovered the padlock for the doors to her shed had been removed. She accessed a trail camera which pointed toward the shed and retrieved several pictures of an older model white Ford Contour sedan entering her property around 9:57 a.m. on June 11. The vehicle remained parked next to the shed for over 20 minutes. The trail camera provided an image of the rear of the car, and the PA registration plate was clearly readable. A check of PennDOT records revealed the owner to be Joseph Allen Everetts.

The complaint states that the victim reported the following items stolen:

– Craftsman leaf blower
– Stihl leaf blower
– two Craftsman weedeaters
– Craftsman chain saw
– Torpedo propane floor
– DeWalt drill and saw
– two gas cans
– various hand tools within a green with beige trim bag
– other various hand tools
– various lawn decorations

Around 1:15 p.m. on June 11, Trooper Morrison, of PSP Franklin, arrived at Everetts’ residence on Eldorado Road in Parker. He located the white Ford Contour sedan, matching the description of the vehicle involved in the burglary.

“The trunk of the vehicle was open and Everetts was stand between the vehicle and an open canopy with the stolen items in plain view,” the complaint states.

“Everetts was taken into custody and mirandized at 1:18 p.m. He gave a verbal admission to committing the burglary of the shed off Lisbon Road,” the complaint continues.

He was arraigned at 4:20 p.m. on June 11 in front of Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland and faces the following charges:

  • Burglary — Not Adapted for Overnight Accommodation, No Person Present, Felony 2
  • Criminal Trespass-Break Into Structure, Felony 2
  • Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 1
  • Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor 1
  • Def Tres Fenced/Enclosed
  • Criminal Mischief-Tamper W/Property
  • Criminal Trespass/Simple Trespasser
  • Driving While Operating Privilege is Suspended or Revoked

Unable to post $85,000.00 monetary bail, Everetts was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on June 22 in Venango County Central Court with Judge Kirtland presiding.
