Man Held for Court in Scrubgrass Township Burglary

SCRUBGRASS TWP., Pa. (EYT) — The case against a Parker man who allegedly confessed to a burglary that occurred on June 11 in Scrubgrass Township has been held for court.

According to court documents, the case against 63-year-old Joseph Allen Everetts, of Parker, has proceeded to Venango County Court of Common Pleas.

He faces the following charges:

  • Burglary – Not Adapted for Overnight Accommodation, No Person Present, Felony 2
  • Criminal Trespass-Break Into Structure, Felony 2
  • Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 1
  • Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor 1
  • Defiant Trespass Fenced/Enclosed
  • Criminal Mischief-Tamper W/Property
  • Criminal Trespass/Simple Trespasser
  • Driving While Operating Privilege is Suspended or Revoked

Everetts remains lodged in the Venango County Jail on $85,000.00 monetary bail.

The case is working its way through the court system.

Details of June 11 Burglary

Burglary Reported in Scrubgrass Township; Trail Camera Captures Photo of Vehicle Entering Property

According to a criminal complaint, around 12:02 p.m. on June 11, a known woman contacted PSP Franklin to report a burglary. The woman discovered the padlock for the doors to her shed had been removed. She accessed a trail camera which pointed toward the shed and retrieved several pictures of an older model white Ford Contour sedan entering her property around 9:57 a.m. on June 11. The vehicle remained parked next to the shed for over 20 minutes. The trail camera provided an image of the rear of the car, and the PA registration plate was clearly readable. A check of PennDOT records revealed the owner to be Joseph Allen Everetts.

The complaint states that the victim reported the following items stolen:

– Craftsman leaf blower
– Stihl leaf blower
– two Craftsman weedeaters
– Craftsman chain saw
– Torpedo propane floor
– DeWalt drill and saw
– two gas cans
– various hand tools within a green with beige trim bag
– other various hand tools
– various lawn decorations

Police Arrive at Everetts’ Residence, Discover Stolen Items

Around 1:15 p.m. on June 11, Trooper Morrison, of PSP Franklin, arrived at Everetts’ residence on Eldorado Road in Parker. He located the white Ford Contour sedan, matching the description of the vehicle involved in the burglary.

“The trunk of the vehicle was open and Everetts was stand between the vehicle and an open canopy with the stolen items in plain view,” the complaint states.

Everetts Arrested, Allegedly Confesses to Burglary

“Everetts was taken into custody and mirandized at 1:18 p.m. He gave a verbal admission to committing the burglary of the shed off Lisbon Road,” the complaint continues.
