ALLEGHENY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Butler-based State Police say an escape occurred around 7:30 p.m. on June 24, at Mid Atlantic Youth Services in Allegheny Township, Butler County.
According to police, 18-year-old Chace Johnson, of Pittsburgh, “caused damage to a secured exit door.” Johnson and 20-year-old Anthony Blackwell, of Pittsburgh, “exited the facility from the same door.”
Upon the arrival of police, “Blackwell was apprehended by staff a short distance from the facility. Johnson was later apprehended approximately four miles from the facility.”
Sources say Johnson was located about 1 1/2 hours later eastbound on Interstate 80.
Police say “Johnson related that he caused damage to the exit door throughout the day by pulling the metal surrounding exposing the wires.”
Blackwell was charged with third-degree felony Escape.
Johnson was charged with third-degree felony Escape and third-degree felony Criminal Mischief through Magisterial District Judge Stoughton.
Both were taken into custody and placed in Butler County Prison.
