Clarion Community Learning Center Summer Book Club Held Every Wednesday

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — 537 Clarion Community Learning Workshop’s summer Book Club is held on Wednesdays through the summer from 1:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.

The Book Club is appropriate for grades 3 to 7, although open to any age interested in the books. Book Club members receive free books and are led through discussion, as well as reading, writing, and film activities.

The Club is a great way for boys and girls to keep up with their reading skills while having fun and choosing the books they will read together.

learning workshopsThis summer’s first book is The Egypt Game by Zilpha Keatley Snyder. This is a Newberry Award Winning book and is part of many teachers’ recommended book lists. The book chronicles and character’s experiences with the turning of a childhood fantasy game into something real and exciting.

The book discussion will be led by Max Lane, a Clarion Area graduate and student of international studies at Carleton College. Max will share his experiences traveling to Egypt and studying Arabic to contribute to an understanding of the book.

The Learning Workshop is a drop-in homework and tutoring center that provides educational programs and workshops to learners of all ages in the Clarion area and surrounding communities.
