Authorities: No Charges for Dayton Resident Who Shot Burglar

DAYTON, Pa. (EYT) – Police say no charges will be filed in an early morning shooting in Dayton.

State Police say Brandon J. Vallies was shot in the torso around 2:30 a.m. after he tried to break into a West Main Street home.

The suspect was asked to leave the property and refused to do so, according to police.

Vallies was flown to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Late Saturday afternoon, authorities announced that charges will not be filed against the homeowner, calling it a justifiable shooting.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
