ALLEGHENY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — A lawn chair led to an accident yesterday involving two tractor trailers on Interstate 80 in Allegheny Township, Butler County.

According to State Police, around 6:38 p.m. on August 2, Sukhjit Singh, 28, of Carteret, N.J., was driving west in the right lane on I-80 in a 2007 Freightliner tractor trailer when he stopped to avoid hitting a lawn chair in the roadway.

Police say Lee Shurburne, 32, of York, Pa., was following Singh in his 2005 Volvo tractor trailer and hit the truck from behind.

Both trucks came to a rest on the north berm of I-80.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and no injuries were reported.

Shurburne’s truck had major front end damage and had to be towed from the scene, while Singh’s truck had minor damage.

Clarion-based State Police were assisted by the Emlenton Fire Department and Franklin-based State Police.
