CLARION, Pa. – Head football coach Chris Weibel announced today the addition of Philip Hamilton to the Golden Eagle coaching staff.

Hamilton will come in as an offensive assistant coach after spending the past eight years working in high school and collegiate football.

Hamilton comes to Clarion after spending a year in the prep ranks, serving as the offensive coordinator at Greensburg Central Catholic high school. Before that he spent nearly five years as the quarterbacks coach, information coordinator, recruiting coordinator and junior varsity coach at Stevenson University in Maryland, which is the same school just departed offensive coordinator Jesse Correll came from. He helped the Mustangs to eight wins and a postseason victory in just their fourth year of existence as a program, and successful recruited more than 100 student-athletes from eight different states in his time there. Hamilton also monitored the academic and community service work of the student-athletes in the program.

“We’re excited to welcome Philip to the Golden Eagle family,” Weibel said. “His experience working in all facets of a college football program make him a great fit for what we’re trying to do here at Clarion.”

“I am very excited to be a part of the Clarion community and I look forward to building on the success the football program achieved last season,” Hamilton said.

Hamilton’s football career started as a student assistant for the Saint Vincent football team, where he also completed his undergraduate work in 2010. He then went on to become a graduate assistant coach at Stevenson for a year before assuming full-time duties in June 2011.

In addition to his college and high school coaching efforts, Hamilton has also spent the last five years as a coach at Quarterback Factory, developing coaching and teaching abilities to community football players in the Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C. and Pittsburgh areas. He also worked with Game Planner Pro, running social media accounts and sales for the game-planning software.

Hamilton has taken part in a number of football camps on the East Coast, including ones hosted by the NFL’s Ed Reed, the United States Naval Academy, Rivals (Md.), Duquesne and Villanova. He’s also been a speaker at the SVS Quarterback Clinic, the Philadelphia Coaches Clinic and the Nike Coach of the Year clinic.

In 2010, Hamilton graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Saint Vincent.
