Clarion Man Accused of Assaulting State Trooper During Hospital Altercation

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — A Clarion man is facing felony aggravated assault charges after an alleged assault Tuesday evening at the Clarion Hospital.

Clarion-based State Police were dispatched to the Clarion Hospital ER around 11:00 p.m. for a report of a combative patient.

Upon arrival, the patient — 28-year-old Matthew K. Arthur, of Clarion, allegedly became increasingly combative and assaulted a state trooper.

He then allegedly attempted to assault a second state trooper, a paramedic, and a nurse.

Arthur faces four second-degree felony counts of Aggravated Assault.

The charges were filed at District Judge Duane Quinn’s Office in Clarion.

Arthur is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
