PAINT TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Clarion man is facing sexual assault charges for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old girl.

Court documents indicate criminal charges were filed against 33-year-old John Eric Hunt, Jr., of Clarion.

According to a criminal complaint, an investigation was initiated in response to a report in which Children and Youth Services were advised that a known juvenile “had been coerced by an adult male named John Hunt to have sexual intercourse.”

The complaint states that on April 2, 2012, the known juvenile was interviewed in the presence of her mother at the PSP Clarion barracks. The victim stated that around the end of the school year (approximately May) in 2008, “John Hunt kissed her and asked her if she wanted to have sex while outside Forest Park Estates, on Route 322, Paint Township, Shippenville.”

The complaint indicates that “over the next three weeks, Hunt kissed the juvenile and asked her on a daily basis if she wanted to have sex. (The victim) refused. After school ended, Hunt took (the victim) into the woods near Forest Park Estates and asked her to have sex, to which (the victim) did not verbally consent. Hunt removed (the victim’s) pants and underwear and … had intercourse with the victim. (She) explained that for approximately one year after the first incident of intercourse, Hunt would regularly engage in intercourse with her at various locations throughout Clarion County to include Forest Park Estates, the woods near Forest Park Estates, and in Hunt’s red car while Hunt’s two-year-old son was in the car.”

“(The victim) stated that approximately six months after she turned 12 years of age, Hunt had her perform oral sex on him in addition to vaginal intercourse. (The victim) estimated that over the course of two years, she and Hunt engaged in vaginal and oral sex approximately 100 times,” the complaint continues.

“(The victim) positively identified Hunt as John Eric Hunt, Jr., from a WebCPIN generated photo lineup. Based on this information, Hunt would have been 24 years of age at the time of his first sexual contact with (the victim),” according to the complaint.

During Officer Salusky’s initial interview with Hunt, he “denied having had any sexual contact with (the victim) but admitted knowing (her),” the complaint states.

“On June 4, 2014, Hunt agreed to meet with the Troop C Polygraph Examiner Trooper Ronan, but Hunt failed to appear. On July 2, 2014, Hunt arrived at the PSP Clarion barracks to submit to a polygraph test to be conducted by Trooper Ronan. According to Trooper Ronan’s report, she advised Hunt of his constitutional rights and the voluntary nature of the polygraph test. During the pre-test interview, Hunt initially explained that (the victim) was lying, but when Trooper Ronan told Hunt that she believed Hunt had sex with (the victim), and she then stated that she knew it happened and asked how many times. Hunt responded that it was once or maybe twice. Hunt then requested legal representation. Trooper Ronan terminated the interview, and no polygraph examination took place,” according to the complaint.

On May 4, 2016, Officer Salusky interviewed a juvenile acquaintance of (the victim). “The acquaintance confirmed that she observed Hunt and (the victim) meet in the evenings on an almost daily basis in the parking lot of the laundry mat on the north side of Route 322. The acquaintance stated that she saw (the victim) get into Hunt’s red Geo Tracker with Hunt, and they would drive off to an unknown location….The acquaintance stated that (the victim) told her that she and Hunt were having sex,” the complaint states.

Based on his investigation, Officer Salusky filed a criminal complaint against Hunt in District Judge Timothy P. Schill’s office.

Hunt was arraigned at 10:00 a.m. on August 10 on the following charges:

  • Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse with Child, Felony 1
  • Statutory Sexual Assault, Felony 2
  • Corruption Of Minors, Misdemeanor 1

Hunt is free on $25,000.00 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. on August 23 in front of Judge Schill.
