TIONESTA, Pa. – The 51st Annual Tionesta Indian Festival is currently underway and continues until August 21.
The festival, sponsored by the Tionesta Community Association, has a variety of family-friendly events on tap, including:
- Performances by the Allegheny River Indian Dancers
- Lighthouse tours
- 5K Color Run/Walk
- Trash and treasure and rummage sales
- Fishing derby
- Indian costume contest
- Wine tastings and beer wagon (must be 21+)
- Wildlife tracking program hosted by the Pennsylvania Game Commission
- Pet and Kiddie Parades
- Live bands and Elvis
- Neil Sneeringer Memorial Car and Motorcycle Cruise-In
- Fireworks
Since 1965, Tionesta Indian Festival has been entertaining families and individuals with a week-long celebration of performances, live music, food, and activities.
According to “Travel Tips” on usatoday.com, “Tionesta has a rich cultural history; the area was occupied by Native Americans for centuries, and many Tionesta townspeople take pride in their Native American roots.”
While it has veered from a celebration centered around Native American culture, events like the Indian Princess and Brave Pageant and performances by the Allegheny River Indian Dancers continue to pay homage to the festival’s name.

Tuesday, August 16
- 10 a.m. — Free Fishing Tournament
- 4:30 p.m. — Spirit Wings Performs
- 5 p.m. — Indian Princess and Brave Pageant
- 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. — Evening with “Elvis” Jim Felix
- 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. — Wine Tasting with Wilhelm
Wednesday, August 17
- 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. — Lawn Dinner (Methodist Church)
- 6 p.m. — Kiddie Parade
- 6 p.m. — Spirit Wing Performs
- 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. — Hunter Cook Band
- 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. — Beer Booth by AM Vets (Must be 21+)
