John F. Rondinelli

John F. Rondinelli, 95, formerly of Grandview Rd., Oil City, PA. ,died peacefully at 7:45 A.M. Wednesday August 17, 2016 at SouthWoods in Titusville.

Born Aug. 23, 1920 in Irvin, PA., he was the son of the late Frank & Margaret Piccerilla Rondinelli.

John was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp, serving as a Sgt. in World War II.

He was a crew chief and airplane mechanic with the 553rd. AAF Base Unit, and had been stationed in British Columbia.

He was stationed at Romulus Air Force Base after the war.

Mr. Rondinelli had received the American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

After the war, he played baseball in the minor leagues for the St. Louis Cardinals.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

On July 25, 1944, he married the former Francis E. Mitcham and she preceded him in death on July 22, 2014.

John had retired on Aug. 1, 1980 after 43 years with the Pennsylvania Railroad and Conrail.

He was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians while living in Oil City.
He had also belonged to the VFW Post 8803 in Tidioute.

He is survived by three children, Dona Buckingham of West Palm Beach, John & Mary Jo Rondinelli of Pleasantville, Brian & Ann Rondinelli of Seneca.

four grandchildren also survive, Deidre Buckingham, Larry Rondinelli, Krista Krahe & husband Eric, Craig Rondinelli

Two Great-Grandchildren, Sophia and Olivia

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters Philomena Sherpf and Isabelle Atkins, and a brother Joseph Rondinelli

Friends will be received from 12 noon- 2:00 P.M. Friday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Private Committal Services will be held at Calvary Cemetery with Fr. Matthew Ruyechan, Presiding. Military Honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S.Honor Guard
