Charles Albert “Chuck” Dolby

Charles-Dolby-1471780916Charles Albert “Chuck” Dolby, 73, of 1114 North St, Oil City, died at 3:45 am, Saturday, August 20, 2016, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.

Born January 3, 1943 in Oil City, he was a son of the late Albert and Mattie Jewel Hepler Dolby.

Chuck served in the US Army.

He was a crossing guard at West First St and Mitchell Ave.

Chuck was a member of the Venango County Fire Police, the State Fire Police and a former president of the Reno Volunteer Fire Department.

He enjoyed fishing.

On January 20, 1968, he was married in the Hill City Methodist Church to the former Carol A. Springer, who survives.

In addition to his wife, Chuck is survived by four sons, Sean Dolby (Gena Brumley) of Ohio, Michael Dolby (Jackie) of Franklin, John Dolby (Laura) of Oil City, and Justin Dolby (Sheila Lauer) of Oil City; a daughter, Melinda Broadie (Antonio) of Oil City; 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are a sister, Nancy Cowan of WA; and his mother-in-law, Lucinda Springer of AZ.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Norbaum, a grandson, Austin Brumley and a granddaughter, Jessica Dolby.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm.

Funeral services will be held at the conveyance of the family.

Interment will be at a later date in Shaw Farm Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to a charity of one’s choice.
