FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — A Franklin couple found dead in their home Saturday, Aug. 20 was the result of an apparent murder-suicide, according to Venango County Coroner Christina Rugh.

Barbara and John B. Heckathorne Jr., both 63, were found dead at their home at 1285 Mercer Road home at about 6:23 p.m.Saturday.

“It appears to be a murder-suicide,” Rugh said. “Both died of a single gunshot wound.”

Rugh would not comment further on the incident.

Franklin-based State Police are also investigating.
