Karns City Hosts Armstrong Tonight in RRR Roadhouse KSAC Football Game of the Week

KARNS CITY, Pa. (EYT) – Karns City hosts Armstrong Friday night in the inaugural 2016 Explore Radio RRR Roadhouse KSAC Football Game of the Week.

Airtime for Kerle Tire Pregame Show for the interdistrict contest is 6:30 p.m. with Bob “The Governor” Dunkle and Mike Kalinowski on the call. Kickoff from Karns City’s Diehl Stadium is set for 7 p.m.

Karns City is coming off a strong season that saw it go 12-1 and win both the KSAC Large School Division title and the District 9 Class AA championship. It was the Gremlins fourth straight D9 2A title. Karns City is now a 3A school in the PIAA’s new six-classification system.

Armstrong, which is in its second year of playing football and his the  combination of the Ford City and Kittanning High Schools, was 6-4 last season. The River Hawks, who play in the WPIAL, are coached by former Redbank Valley head and assistant coach Frank Fabian.

Top returning players for Karns City, which beat Bedford before losing in a close game to Aliquippa in last year’s PIAA playoffs, include Cullen Williams (500 yards rushing, 7 touchdowns; 539 yards passing, 3 touchdowns), Jacob King (634 yards passing, 8 touchdowns), Chandler Turner (853 yards rushing, 13 TDs) and Kaiden Powers (338 yards rushing, 4 TDs and 1 field goal).

Armstrong is paced by one of the top returning running backs in the WPIAL, Zane Dudek. Dudek ran for 2,059 yards and 23 touchdowns a year ago. Michael Lohte (579 yards passing, 10 touchdowns), Dawson Porter (529 yards rushing, 5 touchdowns; 215 yards passing, 4 touchdowns) and Shawn Giddings (139 yards receiving, 2 touchdowns) also return for the River Hawks.
