Penn State Wrestling to Open Season with Special Event at Rec Hall Oct. 14

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – For the second year in a row, the Penn State Nittany Lion wrestling team will open the season with an emceed practice, dinner buffet and silent auction in Rec Hall.

The kickoff, mirroring last year’s inaugural event, will take place on Friday, Oct. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Rec Hall.

The emceed practice features the Penn State coaching staff guiding those in the stands through the ins and outs of some of the techniques and drills that Penn State uses during its practices. The dinner buffet features Hog Father’s barbeque and the silent auction features various items.

Doors open at 6 p.m. with the Hog Father’s barbeque buffet and silent auction for those registered. Team introductions and the emceed practice takes place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. with auction winners announced form 7:30 to 8 p.m.

Fans have two options for purchasing tickets. The full event, featuring silent auction registration, barbeque buffet and practice, will cost $25 per person. The cut-off date for purchasing the all-encompassing $25 ticket is Oct. 12. For fans simply wishing to watch the 6:30 to 7:30 open practice and participate in the silent auction, admission is $10 per person.

Fans may also purchase tickets by calling 1-800-NITTANY or by visiting the Athletic Ticket Office in the Bryce Jordan Center, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Penn State has won five of the last six NCAA National Championships and five of the last six Big Ten titles. Head coach Cael Sanderson’s squad opens up the 2016-17 season at Army on Friday, Nov. 11, in a 7 p.m. dual. The home opener is set for Sunday, Nov. 13, when the Stanford Cardinal invades Rec Hall for a 2 p.m. match-up.
