VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) — A Knox man is facing assault and related charges stemming from an alleged domestic incident that occurred on Valley Church Road, in Richland Township, Venango County.

Online court documents indicate Franklin-based State Police filed criminal charges against Matthew Allan Fosbaugh, of Knox.

According to a criminal complaint, around 1:10 p.m. on August 27, 2016, Officer Haun, of PSP Franklin, responded to a residence on Valley Church Road in Richland Township, Venango County, for a report of an active domestic between 41-year-old Matthew Allan Fosbaugh, of Knox, and an 18-year-old male.

The complaint states that upon Officer Haun’s arrival, Fosbaugh was not at the residence; it was noted that Fosbaugh fled to an unknown location. The victim stated that “he was inside the living room of the residence at the above location when (Fosbaugh) arrived. The victim said (Fosbaugh) entered the residence and instantly started yelling profanities at him…assaulting him by kicking and punching him multiple times in the head and body, leaving visible injuries to his head, chest, stomach, and back. Officer Haun observed the victim’s injuries which included a large ‘goose egg’ on the right side of his forehead as well as scratches and bruising on his chest, stomach, and back.”

The victim indicated that Fosbaugh “kicked him approximately two to three times and punched him approximately eight to 10 times while he was lying on the ground,” the complaint continues.

Based on his investigation, Officer Haun filed a criminal complaint against Fosbaugh in District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey’s office.

He was arraigned at 11:15 p.m. on August 27, on the following charges:

  • Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on August 31, at Venango County Central Court.
