Body Found Near Clarion River Identified as Missing 13-year-old Girl

CLARION COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) – Investigators say the body of 13-year-old Shevy Lynn McGiffin was found late Sunday afternoon in Clarion County.

Clarion-based State Police Tpr. Wilson said Shevy’s body was found by Clarion Fire & Hose Company No. 1 around 3:50 p.m. in Trout Run near the Clarion River.

The fire company was part of an active search crew that was scouring the area.

Clarion County Coroner Terry Shaffer confirmed late Sunday afternoon that the body of a female juvenile was recovered.

Shevy went missing Friday after leaving her Fraternity Drive residence around 6:45 p.m. to go to the Dollar General Store on South 5th Avenue.

She was last seen in the area of Comet Warehouse and Dollar General, approximately 1/5 of a mile from her home.

It’s unclear whether or not foul play is suspected.

“No additional information is being released at this time as the case is under active investigation,” according to Tpr. Wilson.
