William “Bill” Harvey LaVan

1851379_profile_picWilliam “Bill” Harvey LaVan of Pymatuning Township passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 9, 2016 in UPMC Horizon, Greenville. He was 63.

Mr. LaVan was born April 15, 1953, in Grove City, a son of Ronald L. Sr. and Nellie (Uber) LaVan.

He was a 1971 graduate of Moniteau High School, West Sunbury, Pa. Bill worked many years before retiring for Mercer Lime Company, Branchton, Pa.

Bill enjoyed playing as well as coaching baseball and softball. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and was a fan of NASCAR and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Bill is survived by his wife Debra (Kilgore) LaVan, whom he married on December 12, 2010; two daughters, Ruth Ann Vanistendael and her husband Verick, Slippery Rock; and Jennifer Keller, Franklin; two sons, Michael LaVan and his companion Jill, Franklin; and James LaVan and Bill’s daughter-in-law Marcia, Harrisville; three stepsons, Seth Kilgore; Ethan Richardson; Jacob Richardson, all of Greenville; sister, Vicki LaVan and her companion Wayne Decker, Kennerdell; several other stepchildren from his previous marriages; eight grandchildren; and many step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; previous wives, Betty Jane LaVan; and Mary K. LaVan; and two brothers, Ronald LaVan Jr.; and David LaVan.
