Strattanville Woman Suffers Serious Injuries in Two-Car Crash on I-80

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) — Police say a two-car accident occurred this morning on Interstate 80, east of Roseville-Sigel Road, at approximately mile marker 76.5, in Pinecreek Township, Jefferson County.

According to DuBois-based State Police, 48-year-old Douglas R. Wright, of Pittsburgh, and 20-year-old Sydney L. Miller, of Strattanville, were involved in the collision.

Police say around 8:58 a.m. on September 21, a 2016 Ford Focus — driven by Wright — was traveling eastbound on I-80 in the right lane and approaching a tractor trailer. Wright attempted to change lanes from right to left and struck a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Miller with the car’s left rear quarter panel. The Volkswagen was pushed to the left by the Ford; the Volkswagen then exited the left side of the roadway, hit an embankment, went airborne, and struck a tree. The Ford came to a final rest on its left side, and Miller was entrapped inside the car.

Jefferson County EMS transported her to Penn Highlands Brookville for suspected serious injuries.

She was using a seat belt.

Wright was using a seat belt and was not injured.

He was charged with a traffic violation.
