Four Local Golfers Make Cut at District 9 Boys’ Golf Championship

ST. MARYS, Pa. (D9Sports) — Four local golfers made the cut during the first round of the District 9 Class 2A Boys’ Golf Championships at Bavarian Hill Golf Course in St. Marys.

A pair of A-C Valley/Union golfers, a Karns City golfer and a Clarion golfer made the cut of 90 and will participate in Saturday’s championship round at Bavarian Hills.

A-C Valley/Union’s Ethan Nevel is in a sixth-place tie with Moniteau’s Weston Kimmey. Both golfers shot an 85.

Nevel’s teammate, Kolby Montgomery, is tied with DuBois Central Catholic’s Austen Cogley for ninth place at 87, while Karns City’s Hunter Gifford and Cranberry’s Nathan Marterella are in a three-way tie for 11th carding an 88.

Clarion’s Joshua Craig is tied with Punxsutawney’s Willie Hoover in 14th place with an 89.

Also Monday, Ridgway edged Punxsutawney, 350-354, to win its fourth straight District 9 Class 2A team title.
