MONROE TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Penn Highlands is looking to expand its operations into Clarion County.

Penn Highlands, which operates hospitals in DuBois, Brookville, Clearfield, and St. Marys, recently bought two parcels of land in Monroe Township, according to hospital spokesperson Karen Hazlett.

“We did buy two parcels of land there, but there haven’t been any decisions made as to exactly what will be done there,” Hazlett said. “We are certainly going to provide services to the Clarion County residents. Probably, it will mostly be outpatient services.”

One parcel is about five acres in size, and the other is about one acre.

The sites — the Klingensmith Healthcare Plaza and the former “C & K Building” — are located adjacent to Pizza Hut.

The Penn Highlands system employs more than 3,500 people with 350 doctors and more than 100 advanced practice providers.

Penn Highlands also has a number of Urgent Care facilities in the region, including Punxsutawney, DuBois, St. Marys, Ridgway, Moshannon Valley, Cameron County, and a clinic at the DuBois WalMart.
