Dale E. Fike

Dale E. Fike, 93, Langville, died Monday, October 3, 2016, at Jefferson Court, Brookville.

He was born September 30, 1923, in Coolspring, a son of the late Edward and Lottie (Stormer) Fike.

On September 18, 1948, he married Elva (Burkett) Fike, who preceded him in death on April 30, 2013.

Dale was a proud veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Pacific Theater.

He worked as a laborer for Hanley Brick Company in Summerville and retired in 1982.

He enjoyed every moment of life spending time with family, fishing, gardening, and working on puzzles.

Surviving relatives include three daughters, Victoria Burkett and husband Dale of Coolspring, Mona Hoffman and husband Roger of Punxsutawney, and Denise Wagner and husband Tim of South Carolina; a sister Betty Yeager of Brookville; ten grandchildren, Jason Burkett and wife Erica (Zimmerman), Michael Burkett and wife Sherri (Miller), Ranee (Burkett) Sikora and husband Joseph, Matthew Burkett and wife Megan (Reinard), Alicia (Burkett) Harmon and husband Mike, Jackie Burkett and fiancé Mitchell Sibley, Robert Hoffman and girlfriend Bridgitte Dawson, Justin Hoffman and girlfriend Jessica Powell, and Nicole (Wagner) Gibson and husband Jayson; and nineteen great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Grace Caroline Burkett; five brothers, Everett, Bernard, Clair, Percy, and Earl Fike; and two sisters, Elsie Bullers and Leona Burkett.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 6, 2016, at the funeral home

Interment will be in Barton Chapel Cemetery, Sprankle Mills.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Barton Chapel Cemetery or to In Home Solutions.
