57fad2b492e70Shirley Jane Kaylor Rottman, 83, of Karns City, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 in the company of her family at the home of her son on Redwood Road.

Shirley was born in Parker Township, Butler County on February 8, 1933. She was the daughter of George T. and Phoebe E. Shakley Kaylor. Shirley was raised on the family farm; she enjoyed farming and had a love for horses. She graduated in 1951 from Fairview Township-Karns City High School. Shirley was a homemaker and was a devoted mother to her children. She enjoyed quilting with her mother and word search puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Rottman, whom she married on August 4, 1973. Mr. Rottman died on January 22, 2007.

She is survived by her children, Scott Hugh Rottman of Karns City, Daniel Dean Rottman, and his wife, Catherine, of Karns City, Carol A. Clark, of Mercer and Nancy L. Brice of Karns City; seventeen grandchildren, Lilly, George, Alexis, Alaina, Lynn, David, Kevin, Kim, Annie, Andrea, Doris, Anna, Wayne, Patricia, Tammy, Tracy, and Matthew. Also surviving are a number of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Rottman was preceded in death by her son, Karl D. “Speedy” Rottman, a granddaughter, Nancy Rumbaugh, and a special aunt, Lena Maude Dettwiller, and an uncle, Hugh Shakley.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main Street, Karns City from Noon-2 and 5-7 p.m. Wednesday. A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Jacob Adams, pastor of Martinsburg Church of Bruin, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Sugarcreek Twp., Armstrong County. Memorial contributions may be made to the Petrolia VFD Ambulance Service, PO Box 21, Petrolia, PA 16050.
