Venango County Woman Texts Wrong Number to Sell Marijuana; Arrested on Drug Charges

SUGARCREEK, Pa. (EYT) – Franklin-based State Police say a Franklin woman was arrested for drug possession and related charges after trying to sell drugs to the wrong person in the City of Franklin, Venango County.

According to police, around 2:45 p.m. on September 9, a known male reported to PSP Franklin that he was receiving text messages from an unknown person, and based on the content of the text messages, it was apparent that this unknown person was attempting to sell him drugs.

Police say it was obvious that the unknown suspect was sending text messages to a wrong phone number.

Law enforcement had reported text message contact with the unknown person using the known man’s cellular phone and a drug transaction was arranged.

Law enforcement was advised of a meeting place, and troopers arrived and began surveillance. Law enforcement had further text message conversations, and the defendant, Sara Ann Stone, 26, of Franklin, then allegedly approached the undercover State Police vehicle with a plastic bag of marijuana in her hand and a cell phone. according to police.

A search was later conducted at Stone’s residence, and she was reportedly found to possess three additional bags of marijuana along with digital scales, a loaded saw off shotgun, and other drug paraphernalia, police say.

Charges were filed against Stone on October 11 at District Court 28-3-04 on the following offenses:

  • Delivery of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance
  • Prohibited Offensive Weapons
  • Criminal Use of a Communication Facility
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

The investigation continues and charges are also pending against a known Franklin man.
