The PA Great Outdoors region is a big part of Pennsylvania and home to the nationally designated Wild & Scenic Clarion River.

This river meanders over 100 miles through narrow valleys and densely forested mountain slopes. Its headwaters begin as clear, cold mountain streams and enter the PA Great Outdoors region in Elk County. It continues to flow through one of the top 50 state parks in America, Cook Forest, and on to Clarion to ultimately join the Allegheny River near Foxburg.

Bring your camera as river otters, eagles, wild turkey, and black bear are often seen along its banks.

The Clarion’s intermittent ripples and rocky outcrops provide a backdrop for outdoor adventure including kayaking, canoeing, tubing, swimming, fishing and photography.

The northern Clarion offers trophy brown trout fishing. Many adjacent public lands provide opportunities for camping, hunting, cycling and picnicking.
