Henry P. Short, age 80, of New Bethlehem, passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 12, 2016 at Jefferson Manor.

Born November 20, 1935 in Jewell Ridge, Virginia, he was a son of the late Alex and Salie Horn Short.

He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the United States Army.

Henry married the former Donna C. McLaughlin on November 12, 1958. She preceded him in death on January 24, 2008.

He was a custodian for the New Bethlehem Elementary School and a member of the Distant Baptist Church.

Henry loved to play golf.

Survivors include two sons: Dan Short of Brookville and Rick Short of New Bethlehem and one daughter, Dianna Kyle and her husband, Michael, of Climax.

Henry is also survived by four grandchildren: Michelle Short, Brian Short, Curtis Saylor and wife, Jasmine and Kenny Saylor; three great grandchildren: Jesse, Eric and Remmington and two sisters, Vernie Mitchell and Maggie Shelton.

In addition to his parents and wife, Henry was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2016 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2016 in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Lyle Westover officiating.

Interment will follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Distant, Armstrong County.
