Car Goes Airborne, Crashes into Tree off Route 38; Emlenton Man Escapes Injury

EMLENTON, Pa. (EYT) — Clarion-based State Police say a one-car accident occurred around 10:35 a.m. on October 15, on State Route 38, south of Mineral Springs Park, in Emlenton Borough, Clarion County.

According to police, a 2007 Hyundai Elantra — driven by 26-year-old Kyle J. Root, of Emlenton — was traveling north on Route 38 within the Borough of Emlenton. The vehicle was negotiating a left curve in the road and drifted off the right side of the roadway.

Police say Root brought the car back onto the roadway, crossed both lanes of travel, and struck a guide rail. The car then went airborne and struck a utility pole and dropped down over an embankment approximately 50 feet and then came to a final fest in contact with a tree.

Root was using a seat belt and was not injured.

He was charged with a traffic violation.

The car sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Hovis Towing.

Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department and Emlenton Ambulance Services assisted at the scene.
