CUP Men’s Golf Sixth at PSAC Championships

HERSHEY, Pa. — The Clarion men’s golf team turned in a sixth place finish at the 2016 PSAC Golf Championship at Hershey CC East Sunday.

The tournament marks the final event of the 2016 men’s golf season.

Following a strong performance on day one of the tournament Saturday, the Golden Eagles managed to shave 19 strokes off of their team score on day two, carding a 304 Sunday to bring their two-day total to 627 (+59).

Freshman Nathan Sandberg rocketed his way up the leaderboard thanks to a dominant showing Sunday, shooting a 70, a full 11 stroke improvement on his day one total of 81. The mark was the second-lowest score of any participant in the championship Sunday, just two strokes behind Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Max Kirsch. Sandberg finished tied for 11th individualy with a final score of 151.

The Eagles also recieved solid second day performances from Mitch Faulkner, who himself managed a seven-stroke improvment from day one to card a 73. Faulkner ended up inside the top-25 as well, tied for 16th with a 153.

Loren Dukate, Sean Edgar, and Joe Kerrigan rounded things out for Clarion, with Dukate and Edgar shooting a 79 and Kerrigan an 85. IUP took first in the tounrmanet with a final team score of 603.
