No Set Date for CVS Pharmacy Project Demolition

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – Contrary to some reports, the buildings to be razed on Main Street for the new CVS Pharmacy will not be done next week.

Clarion Borough Secretary Mark Hall confirmed Friday morning that CVS has yet to apply for the demolition permit necessary to begin razing the four buildings.

“They first need to apply for the demolition permit and then we need a letter from the state Department of Environmental Protection about hazardous materials that may need to be removed,” Hall said.

Hall estimated that it could two to four weeks before any work is started. He also explained that once the demolition permit is issued, work must be completed in 7 days.

NAPA Auto Parts, the last business open at the location of the new CVS, is moving from their old location on Main Street today to its new home near the intersection of Water Run Landing Road and 5th Avenue.

Three other properties that used to be located where the CVS will be located included Zeller’s Music, Kentucky Fried Chicken and a property of H. Eugene and Susanne A. Burns.

The new CVS store and parking lot would occupy Main Street from Weaver Place to Seventh Avenue.
