MONROE TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A 51-year-old man who was arrested earlier this month for allegedly selling Crystal Meth to a CNET confidential informant is facing additional drug possession charges.
According to court documents, the Clarion County Narcotics Team (CNET) filed criminal charges against 51-year-old Matthew William Myers, of Reynoldsville.
According to a criminal complaint, CNET had an active investigation involved Matthew W. Myers’ involvement in the trafficking of Crystal Methamphetamine. On September 14, CNET made a controlled purchase of Crystal Meth from Myers in exchange for U.S. currency.
On October 13, CNET obtained information that “Myers was in possession of a substantial amount of Crystal Meth,” the complaint states.
CNET member William Peck obtained assistance from members of Pa. State Police Troop C Vice; Jefferson County Drug Task Force; Agents from PA Attorney General Office; Clarion State Police Troopers; and Pa. Troop C K-9 Unit.
CNET and Jefferson County Drug Task Force set up observation of Myers’ residence in Reynoldsville, and at 10:50 p.m., the members who were watching Myers’ residence observed him leave in his Ford Ranger.
The observation team followed Myers on State Route 322 westbound; he then entered Interstate 80 West. Myers was observed driving fast, and when he traveled on I-80, he slowed down, and, at times, was driving approximately 15 mph below the posted speed limit. He was also observed weaving in his lane of travel and crossing the white fog line on multiple occasions.
CNET member William Peck was able to get behind the suspect vehicle at the 68.2 mile marker and observed the vehicle crossing the fog line several times.
PSP Clarion marked units were set up on I-80 at Exit 64, and as Myers’ vehicle passed the units, police were able to get behind the vehicle.
Myers exited I-80 at Exit 62 and turned left traveling southbound on State Route 68. State Police advised that the suspect vehicle had an obstruction at the back of the vehicle, blocking the license plate.
CNET member William Peck instructed the marked units to conduct a traffic stop.
PSP K-9 Trooper approached the driver who was identified as Matthew Myers, the complaint states.
A consented search of the vehicle was conducted and “plastic baggies containing suspected Crystal Meth in a bookbag inside the passenger’s compartment of the vehicle was seized. PSP also seized numerous needles inside the vehicle,” according to the complaint.
Myers was taken into custody at that point and detained.
Based on his investigation, CNET member William Peck asked the court to require Myers to answer the following charges listed:
- Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
- Intentional Possession Controlled Substance By Person Not Registered, Misdemeanor
- Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor
Myers was arraigned at 10:55 a.m. on October 21 in front of Magisterial District Judge Timothy P. Schill.
Bail was set at $10,000.00 monetary.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. on November 1 with Judge Schill presiding.
Myers is also facing charges for selling Crystal Meth to a CNET confidential informant.
He remains lodged in the Clarion County Jail.
