Charles L. Firster

Charles L. Firster, 88, of 1821 US 62, Oil City, PA died at 11:15 pm Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Oakwood Heights in Oil City following a lengthy illness.

Born April 1, 1928 in Rocky Grove, PA, he was a son of the late Charles H. and Mary C. Combs Firster.

Chuck worked for the J&L Steel Co., Continental Can Co. and Klapec Trucking Co.

Chuck served in the Army Engineer’s during the Korean War.

He enjoyed meeting his friends at the Villa and at McDonald’s for coffee. He was a fan of the Steelers, Pirates and Nascar. He liked being outdoors caring for the lawn and doing carpentry work.

He was married to the former Mary Henry, who survives.

Survivors, include his wife Mary, a daughter Diana F. Lauer and husband E. Brett Lauer of Marseilles, IL; two grandsons, Timothy B. Lauer of Marseilles, IL and Andrew J. (Rachael) Lauer and 2 great granddaughters, Chloe Marie Lauer and Quinn Lou Lauer, all of Ottawa IL.

In addition, surviving are a brother-in-law L. Joseph Henry and wife Loretta of Warren, PA, a sister-in-law P. Candy Henry of Erie and several nieces and nephews. His special caretakers, nephew Richard R. and Marsha Henry, an aunt Patricia Combs and several cousins also survive.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Friday, from Noon to 2 PM. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, officiating.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
