OI271157545_HargenraderRichardRichard H. Hargenrader, 87, of Oil City, PA., died at 12:16 P.M. Thursday Oct. 27, 2016 at UPMC-Hamot in Erie after a brief illness.

Born April 3, 1929 in Fryburg, PA., he was the son of the late Henry & Hilda Fasenmyer Hargenrader.

Richard attended Cranberry Schools.

He was a Sergeant in the United States Army serving during the Korean War.

On May 1, 1954, he was married to the former Doris J. McFadden and she preceded him in death on Sept. 2, 2009. They celebrated 55 years of marriage together.

Richard had worked in the maintenance department at Continental Can Co., retiring after 49 ½ years of service.

He was a lifelong member of St. Stephen’s Church.

Mr. Hargenrader enjoyed taking care of his yard and home.

He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and helping others, family was most important to him.

He is survived by four children and their spouses, Wayne Hargenrader & his wife Linda of Oil City, Cathy Rhoades & her husband Phil of Oil City, Richard Hargenrader of Seneca and his girlfriend Sheila Schneider, Dee Ette Schneider & her husband Karle of Oil City, a son-in-law, Dennis “Butch” Hadden of Seneca, 13 Grandchildren, David Hargenrader & his wife Carmen, and their children Joshua and Kyle, Diana Hargenrader, Emily & Andrew Kumer, Jacob Hargenrader, Dustin & Emily Rhoades, and their children Isabella, Olivia and Bodie, Ryan Rhoades, Shaina Hargenrader & her fiance Andrew Marshall, Samantha Hargenrader, Thomas Schneider, Christa Schneider, Cory Hadden& his wife Crystal and their son Oakley, Lucas Hadden and Megan Hadden, a brother, Robert Hargenrader of Seneca, three sisters, Katherine Zimoski of Seneca, Jean Gibbons & her husband Don of Franklin, Ethel Burch of Franklin, several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter Karen Hadden, who passed away on April 23, 2009. by a brother Gerald Hargenrader and a sister Marilyn Mealey.

Friends will be received from 2-5 P.M. Sunday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Monday in St. Stephen’s Church with Fr. Matthew Ruyechan, Presiding.

Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Military Honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S.Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to St. Stephen’s Second Century Fund or to the Friends for Food Campaign in his memory.
