John C. “Charlie” Earp, Sr.

58165770bc811John C. “Charlie” Earp, Sr., 72 of Seneca, went to be with his Lord and Savior while surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 30, 2016 following an extended battle with cancer.

He was a devoted Christian and attended The Living Word Church, and they hosted a celebration of his life before his meeting with the Lord.

He was born August 9, 1944 in Wilmington, Delaware, and resided in the Fertigs area for most of his life. He was the son of the late John M. and Sally M. Earp.

Many would remember him as a devoted truck driver for the greater part of his working life. He was also a bank courier and a caregiver for the elderly. Charlie made friends with everyone he encountered. He also enjoyed spending time with his loving family and watching Steelers football.

He was married to Rebecca (Roseberry) Earp, and she survives. He is also survived by 10 children: John Earp, Jr. and his wife Connie of Fertigs, Debra Hale and her husband Stephen of Sawtown, Tina Gahring and her husband Todd of Kennerdell, Steven Earp of Seneca, Brent Earp and his wife Holly of Fertigs, Brad Earp and his wife Kelli of Seneca, Robin Hartzell and her husband Brian of Sawtown, Kodie Earp and companion Craig of Fertigs, Elijah Earp of Erie, and Travis Earp and his wife Sarah of Seneca; two step-children, Steve Roseberry and his fiancé Tina, and Penny Thomas and her husband Craig. He also has several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Golda Mae Wotten and Billie Jean Hastings.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday (Nov. 1st) from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at The Living Word Church, 1398 Rte. 157, Oil City, where the funeral service will follow Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Travis Earp, Charlie’s son, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Living Word Church, 1398 Rte. 157, Oil City, PA 16301; the Venango VNA Foundation, 491 Allegheny Blvd, Franklin, PA 16323; or to The Cancer Center at UPMC Northwest, 100 Fairfield Drive, Seneca, PA 16346.
