Letter to the Editor: Make America and Clarion County Great Again in 2016, Vote Republican

GTThe 2016 election will determine the direction our country takes for generations to come.

If Hillary Clinton is elected, the Supreme Court will no doubt become decidedly liberal and the assault will be on. She will appoint up to three justices in her first term. The First and Second Amendments will be in jeopardy. All the scandals and corruption including Benghazi, the email scandal, pay to play from the Clinton Foundation will follow her right into the oval office. During the last eight years we have already seen the most corrupt administration in history. Do we really want another four to eight years of Obama’s agenda?

Obamacare is an unmitigated disaster and make no mistake about it, the Democrats own 100% of the mess that Obamacare has created. Not a single Republican in the House or Senate voted for it and Republicans have voted over 50 times to repeal and replace it but were denied by the Democrats every time. Their ultimate goal is for a single payer system that will be an even bigger disaster.

Donald Trump will repeal and replace Obamacare and make health care more affordable for us all. He will cut taxes for all Americans and small business to spur job creation and economic growth. Under Obama 94 million Americans are not working and the number of people on welfare has skyrocketed. Mr. Trump will rebuild our military and make the United States strong again. Under Obama and Secretary Clinton the United States has become a world wide joke and nothing but a paper tiger.

Pat Toomey has been a strong conservative voice for Pennsylvania. Katie McGinty will be a rubber stamp for Hillary Clinton and you will see your taxes increased and even more regulations to strangle small business and stifle economic growth.

Congressman Glenn “GT” Thompson is a strong leader in the House of Representatives. He was part of the leadership team to replace No Child Left Behind with the Every Student Succeeds Act. This new law restores authority to states and school districts, allows schools to disentangle themselves from Common Core, and will equip our students with the tools they need. He is co-chairman of the bipartisan Career & Technical Education Caucus with the goal to have individuals gain the skills they need to have a family sustaining career. As chairman of the Agriculture Subcommittee on Conservation and Forestry, he supported reauthorization of the Land and Water Conservation Fund. He also worked hard to pass the farm bill which is especially important in Pennsylvania, where 1 in 7 jobs are tied to agriculture, the commonwealth’s No. 1 industry.

oberlander-new

State Representative Donna Oberlander is a true leader in the State House. At the beginning of her fourth term, Donna was selected by her colleagues to serve in a leadership position as House Republican Caucus Secretary. This position gives our rural area a louder voice, helps shape policy and direction. During the previous sessions Donna served as a House Republican Deputy Whip and on the following committees: Appropriations, Children and Youth, Environmental Resources and Energy, and Local Government. In recognition of her strong support for business, Donna has earned four consecutive “Guardian of Small Business” Awards from the PA chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). Recently Donna led the charge that helped secure a $3 million grant for the new Clarion County YMCA. She is involved in the community, working closely with veterans, senior citizens and many citizens of the 63rd District. Donna’s work to repeal the sprinkler mandate and automatic adoption of the building codes came to fruition with Act 1 of 2011. Donna also authored the Bill to Enhance Competitiveness of Diverse Businesses. “Diverse businesses are those owned by women, veterans, and minorities, and they are an important part of our community,” Oberlander said. The bill passed both the House and Senate unanimously and is headed to the governor’s desk which really demonstrates her ability to reach across the aisle and work with both parties to get things done. She is Pro-Life, Pro Second Amendment, Pro Business and a staunch advocate for Clarion County.

The race for Attorney General of Pennsylvania is another critical contest in 2016. Recently convicted Democrat Attorney General Kathleen Kane has been a disgrace to our state and that department needs a good house cleaning. Senator John Rafferty is the man for that job. He currently represents the residents of Pennsylvania’s 44th Senatorial District. He is a former PA Deputy Attorney General and has an extensive background  in legislative priorities including improving Pennsylvania’s transportation system, lowering the property tax burden, protecting the environment, reducing health care costs, providing quality care for seniors, combating prescription drug abuse and ensuring that our police, firefighter and emergency responders have the resources and tools they need to do their jobs. His opponent, Josh Shapiro, has never prosecuted a case in court.

In the most important election in our children and grandchildren’s lifetime we need to give them a better future. To do that, please vote for Donald Trump, Pat Toomey, Glenn “GT” Thompson, Scott Hutchinson, Donna Oberlander, John Rafferty and the entire Republican ticket to Make America and Clarion County Great Again!!
