Duane A. King

581f54eb46421Duane A. King, 63, of Ashland Church Rd. in Cranberry was called home to the Lord on Friday, November 4, 2016, unexpectedly of natural causes.

He was born in Oil City to the late John E. and Clea (Sharrar) King on January 10, 1953.

Duane was a devoted Christian and an active member of Chapel on the Hill in Emlenton where he served on the worship service committee.

He was a member of the Venango Barbertones and the Venango Chorus, and volunteered with the Charitable Deeds organization.

His family will remember him as a very giving person who enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting and was an avid Steelers fan.

Mr. King was employed for more than forty years with the National Fuel Gas Co. where he worked as a corrosion technician.

He is survived by two daughters, Monica M. Weeter and her husband Aaron and Angela M. Shaffer and her husband Jason, all of Oil City; five grandchildren: Macy and Allie Weeter and Braydon, Ryker, and Kylie Shaffer; a sister, Karen Barr and her husband Ed of Kossuth; two brothers, Robert King and his wife Helen of Venus and James King and his wife Donna of Oil City. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews whom lovingly referred to him as ‘Uncle Geek.’

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Clea King; and a brother, Paul Edward King.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday (Nov. 8) from 2 — 4 and 6 — 8 p.m. and Wednesday (Nov. 9) from 10 — 11 a.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township, where the funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Chris Clark, pastor of Chapel on the Hill, officiating. Interment will follow in Perry Cemetery in Fertigs.
