Linda L. Twiest

1873474_profile_picLinda L. Twiest, of Shippenville, passed away at the Clarion Hospital on November 4, 2016. She was 76 years of age.

Born on April 14, 1940 in Muskegon, MI, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Edna Grenell Dancz. In 1958, she married Gilbert L. Twiest, who survives.

Always known for having a smile on her face, she was extremely optimistic. Linda was an incredible individual who always offered a comforting word to those who needed it, even when facing her own challenges. Her family and her two boys were the most important people in her life.

Linda received her Master of Education degree from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. She was a sixth grade teacher at Clarion-Limestone Elementary School from 1985 until she retired in 1998. Linda had also worked for the American Cancer Society in Clarion and as a proofreader for the Clarion News. At one time, she was active in the Red Hat Society and the Garden Club. She also loved making jewelry and traveling.

Linda is survived by her husband, Dr. Gilbert L. Twiest; her sons, Dr. Mark G. Twiest and his wife Dr. Meghan Twiest, of Home, PA, and Bradley J. Twiest and his wife Tracy Twiest, of Slippery Rock, PA; her daughter, Suely AF Rodrigues, and her husband Luiz CR Silveira, of Saõ Paulo, Brazil; her grandchildren, Burkely (Twiest) Gallo and her husband Jed Gallo, Kylie Twiest, Benjamin Twiest, Mariana Lynn Rodrigues-Silveira, and Julia Lynn Rodrigues-Silveira.

In addition, she is survived by her sister, Barbara Boomer and husband Ray, her brothers, Dave Dancz, Terry Dancz, and Tony Dancz and wife Kieu; her brother-in-law, Ed Hallberg; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Pamela and son-in-law, David Emig, and her sister Kathy Hallberg.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday. An additional visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, 7th and Main Street in Clarion to be followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jason Hunter officiating. Interment will be in the Clarion Cemetery.
