ROCKLAND TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police have released additional details in a deadly crash that occurred yesterday morning on State Route 322, west of Hepler Road, in Rockland Township, Venango County.

According to police, around 11:10 a.m. on November 11, 30-year-old Clark A. Miller, and his passenger, 21-year-old Karli B. Chestnut, both of Clarion, were traveling westbound on Route 322 in a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero. The car left the roadway at a left curve in the road and drove off onto the north shoulder with the right passenger side’s tires. The car continued in this manner for a moderate distance before Miller attempted to correct the vehicle to fully re-enter the roadway surface.

Police say as the car re-entered the roadway, it began to slide sideways crossing over the westbound lane and into the eastbound traffic lane. A 2010 Ford Fusion — driven by 21-year-old Nathan M. Hunsberger, of Knox — was rounding a left curve in the roadway and encountered the Alero. Hunsberger attempted to brake to avoid striking the car but was unable to avoid striking it, causing major damage to the Alero.

Community Ambulance Services transported Hunsberger to UPMC Northwest for treatment of injuries of unknown severity.

Miller and Chestnut were pronounced deceased at the scene by Venango County Coroner Christina Rugh.

Death notifications were delivered to the family by members of Pennsylvania State Police.
