SLIGO, Pa. (EYT) — A man has been lodged in the Clarion County Jail after an alleged assault and related offenses that occurred near Sligo Borough.

According to Clarion-based State Police, around 7:30 p.m. on November 11, Steven Lee Bowser, of Butler, allegedly assaulted the victim by physically choking her and throwing her onto a bed at a location on Old Town Road, in Clarion.

Police say a PFA (Protection from Abuse) order is active between the two individuals.

According to police, around 8:30 p.m., Bowser made a U-turn while traveling east on State Route 68 after seeing a vehicle that occupied the victim and two other individuals traveling west on Route 68.

Bowser — operating a white Dodge 1500 — chased the vehicle and rammed the back of it, pushing it approximately 250 feet on the roadway. Bowser and a male occupant of the Mustang got out of their vehicles and engaged in a physical altercation on Route 68, police say.

Bowser fled the scene when police were called.

According to police, around 9:47 p.m. Bowser, Michael James Sheffer (who is wanted by police), and another individual went to the victim’s residence, and Sheffer broke the windshield of the vehicle. A known man and Bowser engaged in another physical altercation.

Bowser was taken into custody, and Sheffer fled on foot when police arrived.

Bowser was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Long-Turk for the PFA Violation.

He was lodged in the Clarion County Jail on $25,000.00 monetary bail.

Pending charges will be filed against Bowser and Sheffer.
