Trailer Buckles, Strikes Roadway in Scrubgrass Township

SCRUBGRASS TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say a tractor trailer accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on November 19, on Interstate 80, in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County.

According to police, a 2011 Freightliner — operated by 47-year-old Christopher Evans, of Fayetteville, NC — was traveling east on the Exit 42 ramp at its intersection with Oneida Valley Road in Scrubgrass Township.

Evans was negotiating a slight left curve on the ramp, and the Freightliner’s trailer buckled in the middle and struck the roadway. The vehicle came to a final rest approximately 10 feet east of the impact location, police say.

Evans was using a seat belt, and no injuries were reported.

The I-80 East, Exit 42 on ramp was temporarily closed, and traffic was diverted.

Hovis Truck Services removed the Freightliner from the scene.
