Barking Dog Alerts Rimersburg Family to House Fire

TOBY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Clarion-based State Police say an accidental fire occurred early Monday morning at a residence located at 21 Fink Road, in Rimersburg, Toby Township, Clarion County.

Police say the Rimersburg Hose Company was dispatched to a house fire at 2:56 a.m.

The PA State Police Fire Marshal Unit was requested to determine the cause of the fire.

According to police, after conducting a scene examination, it was determined that the fire originated behind an entertainment center in the living room of the home. The fire was caused by an electrical malfunction which caused the surrounding combustible materials to ignite.

Police say 38-year-old Brandy Ann Gallagher was awakened by her dog barking and noticed the smell of something burning. Smoke was observed in the living room. She immediately took her two children, ages 10 and 13, out of the home and called 911; however, the home sustained severe fire and smoke damage.

Damages are estimated at $100,000.00. There is insurance coverage on the home; however, the contents of the residence are believed to be uninsured, according to police.

No injuries were reported.
