The Golden Eagles are off to a slow start at 1-4 and are coming off a pair of blowout losses over the weekend falling 103-76 at East Stroudsburg and 92-67 at West Chester.

Defense has been an issue for Clarion in the early going with the Golden Eagles allowing 85.4 points per game, the fourth-worst mark in the PSAC while allowing opponents to shoot 50 percent from the field, the third-worst mark in the conference.

Meanwhile, Clarion has struggled to shoot as well hitting just 40.7 percent of its shots, also the third-worst mark in the conference which is a main reason the Golden Eagles average 71.2 points per game, which is the fourth-worst mark in the PSAC.

Davis & Elkins (0-3) could be a cure for one of those ills, as the Senators allow 90.7 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot nearly 47 percent from the field.

But the Senators will challenge Clarion’s defense, as they score 82.7 points per contest, although they only shoot 38.9 percent from the field.

Kevin Bracy-Davis leads the Davis & Elkins offense averaging 24 points per game and is one of three Senators averaging in double digits. Kevin Simpson adds 12.7 points per contest, and Teron Owens scores 12.3 points per game.

Clarion is led by its newest member of the 1,000-point club, BJ Andrews. Andrews, who is coming off a 25-point game Sunday at West Chester, has exactly 1,000 career tallies and averages 15 points per game including hitting a team-best nine 3-pointers.

Andrews is one of four Golden Eagles averaging double digits with Johnsonburg graduate Cameron Grumley chipping in 13 points per game and newcomers Manny Powell (12.8 ppg) and Jamani Pierce (12.4 ppg) also reaching double digits.

This is Clarion’s second home game of the season. The Golden Eagles beat Penn State Greater Allegheny, 92-76, Nov. 16.

After Tuesday, Clarion is off until it hosts Mansfield Dec. 3 and Lock Haven Dec. 4 with both of those games starting at 3 p.m.
