PITTSBURGH – Pitt senior Michael Young was selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Basketball Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, while Florida State’s Jonathan Isaac earned Freshman of the Week honors as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Young becomes the first Panther to claim conference player of the week honors in back-to-back weeks since Sam Clancy was named Eastern 8 POTW Feb. 6, 1979 and Feb. 13, 1979.
Young averaged 23.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 blocks per game as Pitt went 2-1 in the 2K Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project. He shot 54.8 percent (23-of-42) from the field, including 50.0 percent (3-of-6) from three-point range, and 91.3 percent (21-of-23) from the foul line.
Young tallied 18 points, seven rebounds and an assist in just 15 minutes of action Monday against Gardner-Webb. He added 22 points, eight rebounds and three assists in a loss to SMU at Madison Square Garden. Young closed the week with a career-high 30 points, seven rebounds, two assists and three blocks in a come-from-behind win over Marquette. He was 11-of-20 from the field and 7-of-7 from the foul line as Pitt overcame a 15-point second-half deficit. Young tallied 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting in the second half, including a string of 12 straight Pitt points to help tie the game at 59-59 with 10:20 remaining. His three-pointer at the 5:37 mark game the Panthers a 71-69 lead.
Isaac averaged 16.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, shot .455 from the 3-point line, totaled four assists, three blocked shots and three steals as Florida State won three games last week to improve to 4-0 for the first time since the 2013-14 season. Isaac made a team-leading 18 field goals, including five three-point shots, earned the first double-double of his career and played an average of 24.3 minutes per game as Florida State defeated Iona, Winthrop and Detroit Mercy.
ACC basketball weekly honors are determined by a vote of a 15-member media panel.
Pitt (3-1) returns to action Tuesday, Nov. 22 at the Petersen Event Center against Yale (2-1). Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. with ACC Network Extra (https://es.pn/2fjVvzN) broadcasting the contest.
