Accidental Shooting in Venango County

VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say an accidental shooting occurred Sunday afternoon on Pioneer Rood, in Sandycreek Township, Venango County.

According to police, around 1:15 p.m. on November 27, a known, 58-year-old Franklin man was cleaning pistols with a known, 24-year-old Sandy Lake man.

While tearing his pistol apart, the 58-year-old man accidentally discharged his 9mm pistol into the known, 24-year-old man’s leg, police say.

According to police, a family member transported the 24-year-old man to UPMC Northwest where he was treated and released with non-life threatening injuries.
